Local Electrical Codes & Compliance in Wisconsin

The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) regulates electrical work under SPS 316, which is being updated to adopt the 2023 National Electrical Code (NEC). The new rule is slated for publication August 25, 2025, with an effective date of September 1, 2025, transitioning from the previously enforced 2017 NEC.

TRM Engineering designs and documents all electrical studies to the currently enforced SPS 316 and prepares clients for full compliance with the upcoming NEC 2023 changes.
What this means for you:
  • We align designs and reports with DSPS requirements under SPS 316.

  • Documentation is ready for both current and future code inspections.
